How to Look Up a Texas Liquor License (and a Bar's Sales)

Every Texas liquor license is public. You can look one up by business name, owner or address and see what it allows, who holds it, whether it's active, and, for bars with a Mixed Beverage Permit, how much alcohol it sells each month.

1. Search Bar Sales IQ

Type a bar's name, owner or street address into Bar Sales IQ. Each location shows its TABC permits, add-ons like FB and LH, the red or blue sign, compliance flags, the owner, other locations that owner runs, and monthly liquor, wine and beer sales back to 2007.

2. TABC's Public Inquiry system

TABC's own lookup shows official license details, including the status history of a permit. It's the place to confirm a license before a deal or an event.

3. The Texas Open Data Portal

The State publishes TABC's license records and the Comptroller's mixed beverage sales reports as open data at data.texas.gov. It's the raw source behind Bar Sales IQ, and useful if you want to download everything into a spreadsheet.

What you'll find on a license

Finding the parent company

Restaurant groups often set up each location as its own LLC, so owner names don't match across a chain. Locations that file their taxes from the same corporate address usually share a parent company, and Bar Sales IQ groups them for you on each location's page.
